Another week of healthy food tasting! This week we tried black berries, apples, raspberries, and cherries.
More fruit tasting fun this week! We enjoyed trying red peppers, red grapes, watermelon, honeydew melon, and green peas. We also had lots of fun building and creating, especially with our new class set of magnetic "magformers." Check it out in the pics! ;) Thanks to our food exploration and field trip this week, we have a ton of pictures for you to look at! This week the students got to try clementines, strawberries, This week we continued with our Healthy food exploration. Students enjoyed trying mango, carrots, green grapes, bananas and pears. In Language we have carried on with our story of "Goldilocks and the Three bears." The students were asked, "What would you do if you were Goldilocks?" It was interesting to see their different responses ranging from "I would say 'sorry'" to "I would not go in the house." In math the students continue to investigate measurement. comparing weight, length and capacity. As you look through the pictures this week you can see that one focus for the week was about "Caring for the Environment." We were able to do so by collecting garbage in the forest next to the school, and then later in the week planting trees at the edge of the school play yard. The students really enjoyed working with their grade 7 buddy to dig up the earth, plant and then name their tree. These were a couple good examples of how they can help have a healthy world. This week we enjoyed a walk in the forest area next to the school. We made observations about what we noticed and will talk more about what will happen if the environment were to change. As you can see by the other pictures, the students are often busy creating and building. They are always proud of the work and often eager to ask, "Can you take my picture?" It is so nice to see their confidence grow and develop. We will begin to use these pictures to help further our documentation and to extend our learning, and to help extend the learning and understanding of their peers. This was the week of our first field trip of the year, and for some, their first field trip ever! What an exciting time we had. From the bus ride, to the space exploration, the craft to the story, there was a lot to see and do. New things are always exciting. One student even said that their favourite part was "the water fountain!" We hope that you heard lots of fun things about the trip, too! A short week at school this past week, and a short roll of pictures as well. We kept busy learning about the letter "Y," the sight word "you," community helpers, Easter, decomposing numbers, word families, and more. We had fun dressing up "wacky" (again!) on Wednesday too! We hope you had a great long weekend! |
